
CLOTHING DONATIONS
Thank you for your support of Dress for Success Washington, DC! To operate our Career Wardrobe Program, we rely significantly on clothing donations. However, due to limited space in our boutique, we have specific requirements for what we accept and only take donations at designated times. Please scroll down to sign up to:

What would you wear to a job interview?
That is exactly the type of clothing we are looking for to distribute to our clients. Your gently used professional apparel could furnish another woman with the confidence to enter or return to the workplace, make a great first impression and land a job that could change her life.
Additionally, many of our clients go directly to an interview, so please ensure that all items donated are laundered/clean, not more than 5 years old, and suitable for wearing to job interviews and for work.
Donation Guidelines
We offer professional clothing to women who are interviewing or starting new jobs. When preparing your donation, think about what you would wear to an interview – that’s precisely what we’re looking for! We are so grateful for the generosity of our donors, but due to limited boutique space, we ask all donors to review and adhere to the following guidelines:
We only accept donations on the third Saturday of the month by appointment only, and during our donation drives.
You can book an appointment to donate on the third Saturday of the month on the calendar below.
A sign-up link will be posted below approximately 2 weeks before the next donation drive date. We hold a drive-up and drop-off donation drive twice a year, in the Spring and Fall. Please only sign up for one time slot to allow others to donate as well.
We do not accept walk-in appointments for dropping off donations.
Due to space limitations, please bring no more than two bags of items. Items must be clean and either on hangers, in a small box weighing under 30 pounds, or in bags. No trash bags. If you have any questions about the clothing limit, please email donations@dcdressforsuccess.org
Clothing should be current and contemporary, no more than 5 years old, or classic pieces.
You will receive a Donation Receipt for tax purposes by scanning a QR code with your smartphone when you drop off your donation.
Items we DO accept:
Interview and work appropriate suits
Interview and work appropriate separates (blouses, pants, blazers, dresses, etc.)
Interview and work appropriate shoes (good condition, gently worn)
Interview and work appropriate handbags and briefcases
Jewelry, including costume jewelry
Scarves
Unopened toiletries and makeup (must be in original packaging)
High-end, designer, or luxury goods for our Fall Tag Sale.
Items that we DO NOT accept:
Menswear -Please consider donating to the US Committee for Refugees & Immigrants, a nonprofit that provides professional men’s clothing to refugees.
Casual clothing (t-shirts, jeans, sweatshirts/hoodies, etc.)
Athletic or Leisure wear (yoga pants, tank tops, etc.)
Sandals
Lingerie
Evening-wear

This calendar is for booking an appointment on the third Saturday of each month ONLY. It is not to be used for our Drive-up and Drop-off Donation Days.

Next Drive: An appointment is required to donate. Our next drive date is TBD. A sign-up link will be available when the date has been determined. In the meantime, please choose to donate on the third Saturday of the month in the calendar above.

Please do not sign up for more than one time slot. When sign ups are live, if donation drive slots have already been filled for the October Drive, please check availability on the third Saturday of the month Booking Calendar (above). We also recommend checking back on the current month event signup, as people often cancel within a few days or the day of the event.
Please note that at this time, our Fall Donation Day has not been scheduled.
What We're Looking For:
As we prepare for the upcoming donation drive, we’re especially in need of the following items. Please note: We do not accept walk-in donations and are unable to receive items outside of our scheduled drives or Saturday donation days.
Shoes: Sizes 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, 10.5, 11
Tops: Size XL and up
Blazers: Sizes 14, 16, 20, and 24+
Pants: Sizes 16 to 22
Purses: Tote size
