YES! (Young Executives for Success) is a networking group of upwardly mobile professional women+ in the DC Metropolitan area. We are an inclusive community of passionate young professionals dedicated to raising awareness for the DFSWDC mission of helping women+ achieve economic independence..

 

 

Career Center Lunch & Learn with Verizon

This hybrid Career Center Lunch & Learn was sponsored by Verizon on June 20th, 2023. Attorney Avery Pollard, Counsel, Internal Investigations is at the forefront of employee issues and challenges. She explained Verizon's company policies that support work/life balance and gender equity/inclusion.

Attorney Michone T. Johnson, Vice-President, Federal Government Relations discussed some of the policies Verizon has pushed forth to improve our internet connectivity and mobility so that access is available in more places in our community. In-person attendees were served lunch and virtual attendees received a GrubHub gift card.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Omicron Phi Zeta Chapter partnered with Dress for Success Washington, DC for an event on March 24, 2023.

 

 

PowerHer: Celebrating Women's History Month

Dress for Success Washington, DC was excited to bring back Your Hour, Her Power to inspire hope and resilience among women by honoring groundbreaking women in leadership positions across various industries. On International Women's Day, March 8, 2023, we held the Annual PowerHer Breakfast at HQ DC Houses: 600 F Street NW. The event consisted of a program overview, a dynamic panel discussion, and a delicious breakfast.

2022 Mobile Operations

In June we piloted a Mobile Operation program to not only provide attire to women but also our Career Center, Coaching, and Professional Women’s Group services so that we focus on the TOTAL woman seeking employment. Thank you, Adecco, for your support and to our Referral Partners: Ballou STAY School, Wounded Warriors Project, and House of Mercy for partnering with us in the communities we serve. PowerHer: Celebrating Women's History Month

To celebrate Women’s History Month, Dress for Success Washington, DC’s PowerHer series is highlighting the unique stories and perspectives of women in the DMV area as they share insights and inspiration for women currently in or trying to re-enter the workforce.

Our DressED for Success Donation Day on Saturday, October 16 at The Parks at Walter Reed was a huge success!

The COVID-19 pandemic has had devastating effects on employment for women. You DONATED, GAVE AND VOLUNTEERED to help us combat and overcome these effects. Your contributions will go a long way in helping us to continue empowering women in the DMV to achieve economic independence and to thrive in work and in life. 

DONATED ITEMS We collected over 1000 dresses, blazers, blouses, shirts, skirts, coats and shoes. We are cleaning, sorting and organizing this huge intake of donated items. Information about our next Donation Day in 2022 will be posted here.

VOLUNTEER One of the best ways to help Dress for Success is by giving your time. Reach out to volunteer to be a career coach or to facilitate a career workshop. Also, if you can offer an hour or more of your time each week to help women in need, we will provide you with the training, tools, and support necessary to connect with our clients both virtually and, when it’s appropriate, in-person. We’re especially interested in recruiting volunteers who have past experience in human resources or working with women in need. Contact us to learn more about how you can volunteer.
